not a kid, not yet an adolescent

i've decided to start writing in this thing again.
every now and then i get the itch to write, but i don't want to really commit.

so this is the plan. NO CAPS! :) just to emphasize how not serious i am about this blog.

if you know me well enough, you know that a lot of the work i do pertains to helping my boss out with her 12 year old son, "A".
if you know me on a deeper level, you know that i am affected by anyone and everybody around me. it can be unhealthy at times, but can't be helped. "A" gets me to reflect on my childhood and also gets me thinking about how i will raise my kids in the future.

"A" is a 6th grader in elementary school right now, but is going through all the fun stuff. puberty. he secretly likes kid things but is afraid to admit it, tries to fire back with smart comments every time he is spoken to, and his opinions are only half formed and is easily persuaded by infuential people. (AKA, me.)

this is a conversation we had while driving through the neighborhood (with all the bumps and stop signs) after seeing heavy traffic on wilshire blvd.

A: IS THIS RE-
(about to ask if this is really faster than going the normal way)
ME: DUDE, did you see how backed up wilshire was?
A: oh...yeah, this is totally faster.

poor guy. it probably took 5 minutes longer going through my "shortcut". :)
